Basic Requirements
ال busbar trunking system (busway) shall feature a lightweight structure, flexible installation configuration, and high ampacity (current-carrying capacity), making it suitable for large-scale power distribution.
The specific requirements are as follows:
1) Conductor Material:
The conductors shall be made of high-purity electrolytic tough pitch (ETP) copper (equivalent to T2 grade), drawn to specification.

- Configuration: The copper busbars shall feature full rounded edges (R-edge) and be tin-plated along the entire length.
2) Enclosure (Housing):
The enclosure shall be constructed from high-strength, high-quality aluminum-magnesium alloy extrusions featuring integrated heat dissipation fins.
- Profile Thickness: ≥4mm.
- Properties: The housing must possess excellent heat dissipation capabilities, high corrosion resistance, and non-magnetic properties.
3) Insulation Material:
The copper busbars shall be fully wrapped with a “C-type” polyester film (e.g., Mylar).
- Properties: The insulation material must be halogen-free.
- Flame Retardancy: Class B or higher.
- Thermal Endurance: ≥130℃.

Installation Requirements
- Joints: Straight sections shall be designed for simple butt-joint installation.
- System Configuration: Three-phase four-wire + PE (Protective Earth).
- Section Length: The length of straight sections shall be determined by site conditions, with a maximum length of 3 meters per section.
- Connections: The system must feature reliable electrical and mechanical connection mechanisms.
- Key Components: The system shall include straight sections, feeder sections, tap-off units (plug-in units), end caps, and mounting supports/hangers.

Applicable Standards
The manufacturing, inspection, installation, and acceptance of the busway system shall comply with the following international standards:
IEC 61439-1 – Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies – Part 1: General rules. (Supersedes IEC 60439-1)
IEC 61439-6 – Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies – Part 6: Busbar trunking systems (busways). (The primary international standard for busways).
IEC 60529 – Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code).
IEC 60060 – High-voltage test techniques.
NEMA BU 1.1 – General Instructions for Proper Handling, Installation, Operation, and Maintenance of Busway Rated 600 Volts or Less.
EN 13601 – Copper and copper alloys – Copper rod, bar and wire for general electrical purposes.
ISO 2081 – Metallic and other inorganic coatings – Electroplated coatings of zinc with supplementary treatments on iron or steel. (Relevant for housing/mounting hardware).
