The petrochemical new materials project at the center of this cooperation is a core initiative under the strategic cooperation agreement between a national-level petroleum group and the Jiangsu Provincial Government. With a total investment of RMB 50 billion, it is dedicated to establishing a world-class high-end chemical new materials industrial base. The project focuses on high-end polyolefin new materials, integrating China National Petroleum Corporation’s proprietary technologies with advanced domestic processes. It plans to construct 18 new chemical units, encompassing high-end polyolefins such as FDPE, ethylene-propylene rubber, POE, 1-hexene/1-octene, as well as supporting electrolytic water hydrogen production facilities. Additionally, it includes the construction of associated utilities and auxiliary facilities. The project aims to fill the technological gap in China’s high-end polyolefin materials and promote the coordinated development of three demonstration zones—fine chemicals, bio-manufacturing, and intelligent manufacturing—supporting China’s petroleum industry in its ascent towards the high end of the global value chain.
