- With Plug-in Units/Disconnects: If you are installing plug-in units (tap-off boxes), circuit breakers, or fused switches on the busway, it is treated as serviceable electrical equipment. - Floor Clearance: Busway joints and plug-in tap-off openings should be located at least 10 inches (approx. 250 mm) above the floor slab or curbing.
- Curbing: It is highly recommended (and often required) to install a 4-inch (100 mm) concrete curb or watertight barrier around the floor opening to prevent water spills on a floor from draining down the shaft and into the busway.
4. Parallel Busway Clearances

You must leave enough room around the structural steel or floor channel for these bulky hangers to be properly bolted and adjusted.
